Designed for peolple who don't like travelling in large groups.  Our escorted small group tours are limited to 10-12 people only.  Tours are escorted by one of our New Zealand based team who travel as part of the group.  Local guides in each area add to the experience with their local expertise.

• An all inclusive itinerary: most meals, all sightseeing is included that is listed in your itinerary. Very little is extra, but we are clear what you need to cover and how much you need to pay.
• A no-worry experience: Your New Zealand escort handles all the tipping, your luggage is sorted and our local guides are registered (very important) and have excellent English.
• You see the best at the best time of year: Our escorted tours are planned to visit our destinations at the best time of year and we try to avoid the crowds.

Our small group tours can be combined to create your perfect travel itinerary and most of our small group tours are available on a private basis for 2 or more people.

Active Holidays

If an Active Holiday is what you are after then look no further than our amazing collection of experiences in Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Borneo, Yunnan Province in China and on the Otago Central Rail Trail in New Zealand.

How difficult are the tours?
Tours are graded as easy, moderate and challenging.  This means there is something for everyone from the walker and leisurely cyclists to the serious trekking or biking adventurers!

When do they depart?
Some options depart as small group tours but most depart especially for you on the day you choose with the companions of your choice.  Small group tours cater to a maximum of 10 people.

Are tours guided?
All our tours in Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Borneo and Yunnan are expertly locally guided for your safety and to ensure you get the very best out of your experience.

With cycling tours this also means an airconditioned support vehicle to rest your legs in or to escape the tropical heat.

On the Otago Central Rail Trail in New Zealand we offer supported and self-guided tours.

We also offer a selection of Escorted Adventures - led by an Active Travel Co team member in conjuction with our local guides in each location.  Your Tour Escort is with you from arrival to departure to ensure you get the most out of your adventure holiday.

Camping Safaris

Camping in the wilds of Africa ia an awesome experience! Join a small group of 12 other adventurers on a journey of a life time on a Sunway Safari.

Stay in designated camping sites in national parks, reserves, private campsites and towns.  Facilties are good with  hot showes and often a bar or restaurant.  A few camps have basic facilites and showers may be simple reed enclosures but they still have flush toilets!

The only exception is in Botswana, Sunway go deep into the National Parks and generally use private wild campsites.  There are no facilities a bucket shower is erected, warm water comes from the camp fire and thre is pit toilet.  This is a true wilderness experience and Sunway are committed to a leave no trace ethos.

It is not all camping!
You will notice most safaris are camping and comfort so you stay in lodges and guest houses for a number of nights.  These are modest, but clean, rooms are generally ensuited (occasionally you have to share a bathroom).

Travelling on your own?
If booking solo you won't pay any more for travelling as single person.  We automatically tent you with the same gender single person.  If you request a single tent you will pay a little extra, but you will need to still share with another person when you staying in fixed accommodation.

Accommodated Safaris

Travel in Africa in Comfort.  Custom safari trucks and only 12 people per tour. Sunway offer some of the best value accommodated safaris around! 

Ideal if putting up a tent is not your style and you are looking for a little more comfort.  We stay in guest houses, chalets, lodges and permanent tented camps.

Accommodation
Is twin share and most have ensuites apart from a few more remote places where facilties are shared.  Comfortable, clean and friendly, all your linen and bedding is supplied so there is no need to bring a sleeping bag.

Single Supplements
If you are travelling on your own you will be automatically 'roomed' with another same gender single person so you don't need to pay any extra. If you request a single room you will need to pay the price supplement
