Phonom Penh has retained much of its old world charm in the face of urban development. Located on the junction of the Mekong, Tonle Sap and Bassac rivers, hotels, restaurants and cafes line the riverfront and numerous boutiques and galleries now await discovery in the small side streets.

When to go...
Cambodia has a tropical climate that is warm and humid. The peak of the rainy season from June to August is very humid and the temperatures can reach over 30°C. Seasonal flooding in Phnom Penh and the rest of Cambodia occurs in late July/early August which can cause some disruptions to travel. September to early November is wet and slightly cooler. The peak tourist season is November to February during the dry season. It is very hot between March and May where temperatures as high as 38°C are not uncommon.
